Calculation check: The tool uses RPM = SFM × 12 ÷ (π × D), IPM = RPM × flutes × IPT, and MRR = DOC × WOC × IPM.

Calculation method

How this calculator works

RPM = SFM × 12 ÷ (π × Cutter Diameter)IPM = RPM × Flutes × IPTMRR = Axial DOC × Radial WOC × IPM

Values are deterministic outputs from the inputs shown above; cutting recommendations are not inferred.

End mill speed and feed calculation

Use the cutter's actual cutting diameter, the toolmaker's SFM recommendation and chip load per tooth. Effective flute count matters because feed rate is the product of chip load, RPM and cutting teeth.

Depth and width of cut

The MRR output is a geometric estimate for rectangular engagement. It helps compare parameter sets but does not model spindle power, chip thinning, tool deflection or dynamic limits.
